A Trike for Timi

When Surrey Carers asked if we could make a young man’s Christmas special, your donations helped us respond.

Timi has Downs Syndrome and a heart condition which means it is important for his health to stay active and riding a Trike is something he really enjoys. The Leatherhead Lions Club provided the funds to buy the Trike and Timi received it just in time for Christmas. Mum Esther said “Timi loves being outdoors…..his infectious smile and joy keeps me motivated also”.

Christmas Cheer

For 47 years the Leatherhead Lions Club has brought Father Christmas round the locality on December evenings. Lion Tony Hudson has created this wonderful lightshow to remind us that, even if that isn't possible this year, Father Christmas is still determined to bring some cheer. You can also bring some cheer to those having difficulty paying bills, keeping warm or having enough to eat by donating to our Wenceslas Project today.

Wenceslas Project 2020

Meter

Our Wenceslas Project helps those having difficulty paying bills, keeping warm and having enough to eat.

We have been running the Wenceslas Project since December 2013 and simply ask those pensioners who do not need the Government's tax free "Winter Fuel Payment" to pay their fuel bills to donate it to those not so fortunate and having difficulty in paying bills, keeping warm and having enough to eat.

Lion Tony Hudson The Town Crier

When Leatherhead Lion Tony Hudson offered some of the residents of Petters Road, Ashtead, one of our Easter Eggs to raffle for the children of Petters Road, he didn’t realise it would become such an enjoyable project.

Instead of a raffle Karen McGuigan, together with some other parents, organised a project for all the children in Petters Road to be artistically creative with the theme being Spring or Easter. Tony decided to utilise his daily exercise period on Easter Sunday Morning, dressed as The Town Crier, to view every front garden where the children’s creations were presented and preside as judge on the many entries. The winners, Bradley and Harvey were able to take the First Prize – The Big Easter Egg and there were three very close Runners Up who also received prizes.

Rachael, Bradley and Harvey’s mum, said a big "Thank You" to everyone for making a very special Easter Sunday morning, and to Tony and the Leatherhead Lions for giving her boys a purpose and Happy Easter Memories to treasure.” Rachael also declared Lion Tony the official Petters Road Town Crier!

A collection box was placed in the road resulting in a cheque for £240.00 which was donated to Leatherhead Lions and will be matched and rounded to £500.00 and donated to Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, which receives our annual Easter Egg donations.

What a fantastic amount and all through the creative activity of Petters Road parents and children during these difficult times. Truly an Easter to Remember!
